WRITING IN THE FIELD

I see Édouard Glissant’s idea of going-on-and-with in the world through the small resistances made every day by people working against the President, or even our president, Ana Mari Cauce. Recently, activism work has publicized integrating self-care into resistance. I see this as a literal self-break which also incorporates a reconnection to one’s body and mind. Especially after the passing of Erica Garner, it is clear the toll that constantly going-on-and-with activism work against far more powerful institutions literally injures the body, and mind. To be able to go-on-and-with activism, activists need self-care, a self-break and reconnection to the body.
