Ecopoetics Along Shorelines

May 8, 2018

On page 166 (207 in the reader), Muñoz writes “The pairing of sensuousness…” and talks about utopian philosophy surrounding the intersectionality of politics and expression through dance, and how dance can be aesthetic, though detached, thus overlapping surplus, traces, and the not-yet-here. This may matter to a queer critique because it adds a sense of depth and meaning to an idea; it does not follow “convention” and instead breaks the mold to proudly represent another idea which could represent a movement for the future. It pushes boundaries, recognizes flaws in society’s perceptions, and brings a new face to “expected” ideas.
